A big, strong Tripel displaying notes of citrus, orange and yeast with a slight bitterness on the lingering length.
St. Bernardus brewery is located in Watou just 5 miles from the enigmatic Westvleteren Monastary. In the early 60's, a deal was reached for St. Bernardus to brew the beers of Westvleteren under licence. Although this agreement ended in the 90's, St. Bernardus' output is said to be the closest thing on the open market to the elusive Westvleteren beers and it is rumoured that they are the only ones still using the original yeast strain.
